| The Department of Veterinary Anatomy & Histology of Bihar Veterinary College, Patna has been one of the best departments in respect to teaching and research in the country. | Department of Animal Nutrition |
| Research Project The Department of Animal Nutrition, previously a part of Animal Husbandry department, become a full-fledged department in the year 1949. Under Graduate and Post Graduate teaching, besides researches in order to formulate balanced ration for livestock and poultry species utilizing locally available feeds and fodder resources are the sole objective of this department. |
| Department of Veterinary Physiology |
Research Project The Department of Physiology at Bihar Veterinary College, Patna is one of the resourceful departments of the college. Altogether three research projects funded by ICAR and other agencies have been undertaken out of which two have been completed and one is currently running in the department. Twenty M.V.Sc. scholars have been awarded M.V.Sc. degree in this discipline and more than 100 research papers have been published. |
| Department of Animal Breeding & Genetics |
Research Project Animal Breeding & Genetics has been a nucleus discipline of Animal Husbandry department since inception of the college in 1930. It started functioning as an independent department in 1949. It was accredited as Post graduate department in 1960 and since then this department is engaged in teaching, research and extension works pertaining to Animal Husbandry till date. The Alumni of this department have occupied coveted and prestigious position in State and Central Govt. |
| Department of Veterinary Biochemistry |
Research Project The teaching work in this department had been practical oriented and of optimum standard. A series of biochemical tests were developed/streamlined/modified by the Scientists in this department and most of which are being used by the Medical Pathologists and Clinical Biochemists as diagnostics tools. The Department of Biochemistry at BVC, Patna is still an UG department but some of the courses are accredited to be offered by PG students as minor. |
| Department of Livestock Production & Management |
| Research Project The Department of Livestock Production & Management is a new department in Veterinary Faculty and it has started functioning independently at BVC, Patna since 1981. As per VCI norms this is the largest department. This department became PG department in 1996. Altogether 11 scholars obtained M.V.Sc. degree in this discipline and about 30 research papers have been published. The University Cattle Farm is allotted to this department for practical training to UG and PG students is restricted. |
| Department of Pharmacology &Toxicology: |
Research Project The Department of Pharmacology & Toxicology is engaged in teaching and relevant researches since 1930 and a series of curricular and non-curricular research projects have been undertaken and successfully completed with some results of very high practical utility. Altogether 26 M.V.Sc. and 3 Ph.D Scholars have conducted their teaching and research successfully in this department and published more than 100 research papers. The Department of Pharmacology is one of the well equipped departments of the college. |
| Department of Livestock Products Technology |
Research Project The Department of Livestock Products Technology started functioning independently w.e.f 23 rd Nov., 1985 and Post-graduate programme was started during the session 2001-02. Six students are presently doing M.V.Sc. in this discipline. Four research projects funded by ICAR and Ministry of Food processing Industries, Govt. of India have been completed and 90 research papers have been published. | Research Project This department is functional in teaching, research, diagnosis and extension works since 1930. Altogether 63 scholars have obtained M.V.Sc. degree in this discipline and 150 research publications have been made. Six non-curricular projects funded by ICAR and other agencies have successfully been completed by the scientist of the department. |
| Department of Animal reproduction Gynaecology and obstetrics |
| Research Project Department of Animal reproduction Gynaecology and obstetrics has been instrumental in teaching research, AI and maintenance of sexual health of the livestock since 1962 independently, prior to that it was a part of the department of Animal Husbandry/Animal Breeding & Genetics. This department has been contributed significantly in production of quality crossbreds particularly in and around Patna. Altogether 47 M.V.Sc. and one Ph.D. scholars have been awarded degree in this discipline and about 50 research publications have been made. |
| Department of Veterinary Microbiology |
Research Project This department is operative since inception of the college in 1930 and 62 M.V.Sc. and Ph.D Scholar has been awarded degree in this discipline. More than 250 research publications in different national and international journals have been made. This department has undertaken 9 research projects funded by ICAR & other agencies out of which 2 are presently running. Resultantly the Department of Microbiology is very rich in infrastructure facilities. |
| Department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology |
Research Project The department of Veterinary Surgery and Radiology of BVC, Patna has contributed significantly in attainment of name and fame for clinical services to the livestock and poultry owners in the state. The Veterinary Surgeons trained in this department are still performing major surgical operations like cesarean, compound fractures, traumatic pericarditis, repairing of rupture diaphragm, removal urinary calculi etc. in the field conditions. This department is in service to the society since inception of the college and became PG department in 1963. Altogether 32 M.V.Sc. and 1 Ph.D scholars have been trained and conducted research successfully here and obtained degrees. Scientists of this department have published 105 research papers besides 114 extension publications of high value to the farmers. |
| Department of Veterinary Pathology |
Research Project The Bihar Veterinary College, Patna was pioneer in teaching and research of Veterinary Pathology under able guidance of eminent Scientists like Dr.P.B.Kuppuswamy. It was very rich in facilities for teaching & research, and 38 M.V.Sc. Scholars have been produced in this discipline. More than 200 research publication have been made besides teaching, diagnosis and postmortem works as regular features. |

| Research Project Department of Veterinary Medicine is engaged in teaching, research & extension works in Veterinary and A.H. since inception of the college and produced 53 M.V.Sc.(s) and 2 Ph.D along with publication of about 250 research papers. One research projects funded by ICAR on Deghala disease in cattle and buffalo has been completed very recently.The HOD of this department is presently acting as Assoc. Dean-cum-Principal of the college. |

| Research Project The Department of Veterinary Public Health at BVC, Patna is well equiped with but an UG department. Post graduate studies have been started very recently and presentaly 3 M.V.Sc. students are on roll. |

| Research Project The A.H extension department of Bihar Veterinary College, Patna is an UG department. The extension work is being conducted in association with the faculty members of others departments. More than 300 extension articles have been published in addition to more than 240 radio and T.V. talks delivered by the teachers of this college. |
